In this time of upheaval in our country and on the planet, it is more important than ever for us to be able to access the place within us that is still.

This takes practice and can be powerfully influenced by our beliefs, fears, surroundings and others in our lives. The benefits of achieving a high resting place in stillness are many and Nancy and Robert have spent much of their lives in pursuit of that state of being.
Take a moment to imagine or remember a time when you have enjoyed that inner stillness and how you felt. Even if it was for a short time, there was benefit. Now bring that past memory into your present day experience and get a sense for how living in inner stillness could transform aspects of your life.

Consider your relationships...might some of them be improved if you were able to interact from a place of inner stillness? Consider your choices in life. Would some of them be different if you had decided from inner stillness?

When the mind is still, that is, there is no active thinking going on, it is easier to access a deeper sense of relaxation. That means the parasympathetic nervous system becomes more dominant and stimulates the relaxation response.

The goal is to be able to maintain that activation so that the relaxation response can continue to occur.

As the relaxation response sets in, the muscles can attune to the relaxed state and your breathing can regulate with your focus on taking deeper, slower breaths.

While this all sounds technical and obvious, we'd like you to consider how often in your days you pause to breathe purposefully to calm your body and mind. Once your body and mind are calm, you have a foundation from which to find deeper inner stillness...

Practice & Learn Techniques
to Reside in Inner Stillness
Robert and Nancy have practiced a variety of meditation techniques over their lifetimes. Like most people, they have had times when they were more fulfilled than others with their spiritual practices and results. As they began to find their rhythm with meditation, they enjoyed the quiet times sitting and the after glow that occurred.

And yet, the after glow didn't always last, as life would take over and their minds would be focused on what was in front of them, which wasn't always peaceful! Eventually, they became frustrated enough at their lack of maintaining their meditation glow (and yes, we know how absurd that sounds) that they decided to focus on ways to master the Art of Inner Stillness.
